"Tofu Phil" Spiegel As you probably read in our story, Tofu Phil started Small Planet Tofu in 1992 and after submerging himself in every aspect of tofu production, it was only natural that he emerged as a true artist. Tofu Phil has done everything from grinding to cooking, from pressing to cutting, to packaging to delivering to managing the books and marketing, he's done it all. Even though he's not actively in production these days, his hand is still on the pulse of every aspect of Small Planet Tofu. Tofu Phil does have other interests besides tofu, though that's his first love; he's an avid cyclist and snowboarder. Drisan Turner Tofu Phil says: " I trained him well, because he can now perform tofu magic as good or better than me. Drisan and I have known for a long time that the art of making tofu has an element that we call "The Dance," which involves movement and flow. Drisan has definitely mastered this art, integrating his background in martial arts, Qi Gong, Tai Chi and Eastern philosophy. We feel he has the process down of making the most incredible product. We feel confident that you'll be able to feel the energy that goes into producing our tofu. He's pretty amazing. "When we tell people that the difference in Small Planet Tofu is how it's made, where it's made and who's making it, Drisan is that element of who is making it."
